PLEASE NOTE:

  • All Springwood Riding Club Rules are applicable.
  • No competitor under the age of 16 may wear spurs.
  • All competitors 10 years + under entering In Hand classes may be accompanied by an adult.
  • All leaders in lead rein classes must be aged 14 Years or Over.
  • Correct dress is required at all times.
  • Age as on the 1st January 2009.
  •  The decision of the judge is final.

 

Working Hunter Equestrian Life Quaifers

Please Note

At qualifier shows the height of the fences may be upto 3" lower than at the championship. The highest placed 3 exhibitors not already qualified and with a valid 2009 Equestrian Life Registration Card will qualify for the championship.

Class 1            Mountain and Moorland Working Hunter Pony.
                       Open to pure breeds only, mare or gelding four years old or over.
                       
NO STALLIONS ALLOWED.
                       
Riders any age but to be a suitable size and weight for the pony.
                       This class at the championship will be split into the following sections:
                       a) Small Breeds - ponies not exceeding 138cms. Fences minimum 2'0" maximum 2'3".
                       b) Large Breeds - ponies exceeding 138cms. Fences minimum 2'6" maximum 2'9".

Class 2            Open Working Hunter Pony Not Exceeding 133cms.
                       Open to mare or gelding fours old or over.
                       Rider not to have attianed their 14th birthday on the 1st January 2009.
                       Height of Fences minimum 2'0" maximum 2'6".

Class 3            Open Working Hunter Pony Not Exceeding 143cms.
                       Open to mare or geldings four years old or over.
                       Rider not to have attained their 17th birthday on the 1st January 2009.
                       Height of Fences minimum 2'6" maximum 2'9".

Class 4            Open Working Hunter Pony Exceeding 143cms but Not Exceeding 153cms.
                       Open to mare or geldings four years old or over.
                       Riders any age but must be a suitable size and weight for the pony.
                       Height of Fences minimum 2'6" maximum 3'0".

Class 5           Open Working Hunter Horse Exceeding 153cms
                      Open to mare or geldings four years old or over.
                      Riders to have attained their 16th birthday by the 1st January 2009.
                      Spurs are permitted in this class.
                      Height of Fences minimum 3'0" maximum 3'6".

Working Hunter

Protective boots including over reach boots, bandages and body protectors may be worn in the jumping phase of any working hunter class only, BUT must be removed for the showing phase. No other change of tack is permitted.Spurs will only be allowed in class 5. No childunder the age of 14 years may wear spurs. NO CHANGE OF RIDER IS ALLOWED.
A fall of horse/ pony and/ or rider on the course will result in elimination.
Classes will be judged 60% jumping, 40% conformation.

Ridden Showing Equestrian Life Qualifers
Start 9:30am - Judge Mrs. Julie Flinders

The highest placed 3 exhibitors not already qualified and with a valid 2009 Equestrian Life Registration Card will qualify for the championship.

Class 6          Ridden Hunter
                     For horse exceeding 148cms.Open to mare or geldings four years old or over. The judge may ride   
                     at qualifying shows and at the championship at the judges discretion ( the judge may elect not to
                     ride certain exhibits).
                     The wearing of spurs is allowed in these classes but no child under the age of 14 years old may
                     wear them.
                     This class will be split at the championship into the following sections:
                     a) small hunter not exceeding 158cms
                     b) Lightweight Hunter 
                     c)Heavyweight Hunter

Class 7          Best Ridden Horse
                     For horse exceeding 148cms.Open to mare or geldings four years old and over. The judge may ride
                     at qualifying shows and at the championship at the judges discretion ( the judge may elect not to
                     ride certain exhibits).
                     The wearing of spurs is allowed in these classes but no child under the age of 14 years old may
                     wear them.
                     This class will be split at the championship into the following sections:
                     a) Exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 158cms.
                     b) Exceeding 158cms

Class 8          Ridden Cob
                     For horse exceeding 148cms.Open to mare or geldings four years old and over. The judge mayride
                     at qualifying shows and at the championship at the judges discretion ( the judge may elect not to
                     ride certain exhibits).
                     The wearing of spurs is allowed in these classes but no child under the age of 14 years old may
                     wear them.
                     This class will be split at the championship into the following sections:
                     a) Exceeding 148cms but not exceeding 155cms.
                     b) Exceeding 155cms

Class 9         Ridden Coloured
                    Open to horse and ponies, mare or geldings four years old and over, any height.
                    The wearing of spurs is allowed in these classes but no child under the age of 14 years old may 
                    wear them.
                    This class will be split at the championship into the following sections:
                    a) 148cms and under
                    b) Exceeding 148cms.

Class 10       Lead Rein
                   Open to ponies not exceeding 122cms, mare or gelding four years old and over.
                   Rider not to have attained their 9th birthday by 1st January 2009. To be led by an attendant 14
                   years old and over.To be shown in a snaffle bridle, lead rein to be attached to the noseband and
                   not to the bit.
                   This class will be split at the championship into the following sections:
                   a) Plaited
                   b) Mountain & Moorland

Class 11       First Ridden Pony
                   Open to ponies not exceeding 128cms, mare or gelding four years old and over.
                   Rider not to have attained their 12th birthday by 1st January 2009.
                   To be shown in a snaffle bridle.
                   This class will be split at the championship into the following sections:
                   a) Plaited
                   b) Mountain & Moorland

Class 12        Best Ridden Pony
                     Open to ponies exceeding 128cms not exceeding 148cms, mare or gelding four years old and over.
                     NO MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND PONIES ALLOWED IN THIS CLASS.
                     Rider any age but a suitable size and weight for the pony.

Class 13        Ridden Mountain and Moorland Small and Large Breeds
                     Open to pure breeds only, mare or gelding four years old or over.
                     NO STALLIONS ALLOWED.
                     Rider any age but a suitable size and weight for the pony.Lead Rein ponies are NOT permitted.
                     This class will be split at the championship into the following sections:
                     a) Small Breeds : shetland, dartmoor, exmoor, welsh section A + B.
                     b) Large Breeds : highlands, dales, fell, new forest, connemara, welsh section C + D.

Class 14        Ridden Veteran
                     Open to horses and ponies, mare or gelding, 15 years old and over. 
                     This class will be split at the championship into the following sections:
                     a) Horses/Ponies 15 - 21 Years Old
                     b) Horses/ Ponies Over 21 Years Old.

Class 15        Concours d'elegance     (To be ridden astride/ side saddle)
                     THIS CLASS AT THE CHAMPIONSHIP WILL BE JUDGED IN THE EVENING PERFORMANCE.
                     ALL COMPETITORS WHO QUALIFY WILL COMPETE UNDER THE SPOTLIGHTS.
                     Open to horse and ponies, mare or gelding, four years old and over.
                     Riders any age. Costumes or traditional allowed. To be judged on the overall picture of elegance
                     presented by horse/pony and rider including appearance, conformation and individual show. 

Please Note

If you enter the Ridden Hunter / the Ridden Cob Class you MAY NOT enter the Ridden Horse at the same show.
If you enter the Ridden Mountain and Moorland Class you MAY NOT enter the Best Ridden Pony Class

In Hand Showing Equestrian Life Qualifers

ALL HANDLERS MUST BE 14YEARS OLD AND OVER. NO STALLIOSN OR COLTS ALLOWED.

Class 16        In-Hand Veteran
                     Open to horses and ponies, mare or gelding, 15 years old and over. 
                     This class will be split at the championship into the following sections:
                     a) Horses/Ponies 15 - 21 Years Old
                     b) Horses/ Ponies Over 21 Years Old.

Class 17        In-Hand Mountain and Moorland
                     Open to pure breeds only, mare or gelding four years old or over.
                     NO STALLIONS ALLOWED.
                     This class will be split at the championship into the following sections:
                     a) Small Breeds : shetland, dartmoor, exmoor, welsh section A + B.

Class 18        In-Hand Coloured
                   
Open to Piebald and Skewbald, Native / Non Native, horses and ponies, mare or gelding four
                    years old and over.
                    This class will be split at the championship into the following sections:
                    a) 148cms and under
                    b) Over 148cms

Class 19       In-Hand Horse
                    Open to horse exceeding 148cms, any type, mare or gelding, four years old and over.

Class 20       In-Hand Pony
                    Open to ponies not exceeding 148cms, any type, mare or gelding, four years old and over.
                    NO MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND PONIES ALLOWED IN THIS CLASS.
